Eagle Project, part 1

The Effie Yeaw Nature Center amphitheater.  Sorry about the lighting.

In June after considering several options Benjamin decided to do his Eagle Project  for Effie Yeaw Nature Center in Ancil Hoffman Park on the American River in Sacramento,  Next to the center is a small amphitheater.  The center wanted the benches fixed up, a fire pit removed, and a smooth area created for presentations.  Benjamin eventually decided to build a deck rather than level the ground and build a retaining wall with fence.

One complication for this project which has caused some delay has been that when Benjamin met with the director, the center was in the process of changing hands from the county to a non-profit organization.  The county, due to budget problems, had been on the verging of closing the center completely.  The non-profit saved the center, but with large cut-backs. The center is hoping that with the improvements Benjamin does, they will be better able to use the amphitheater to help earn money for the center animals and programs.

This is a big project.  It easily could be two Eagle projects.  However, as the center's priority one was the benches and Benjamin was more interested in the performance area, he decided to take on the whole thing.
